Mark Read

Mark leads the newly formed GHD Advisory business line - responding strategically to our clients’ needs; by combining business strategies with technical capability across our client’s business and asset lifecycle.

 

Mark’s diverse track record and experience in the Mining community allows him to act as an effective Austmine director in the promotion of Australian based businesses associated with providing world class mining services and equipment capability to the mining sector, both in Australia and Globally.

A business leader with over 30 years’ experience in both Listed and Privately Owned global engineering service companies. Experience ranges from global enterprise management, Engineering, Project Management and Turnkey Construction through to Operations and Maintenance in a wide range of industries including Mining, Power, Environment, Water and Infrastructure.  

Mark is also Non-Executive Director of Aspire Mining Limited, where he is responsible for the activities focused on discovering and developing world class premium coal deposits in Ovoot, Mongolia.

 


Robert Simpson

Deputy Chair
Manager - Infrastructure and Environment - Xenith Consulting

Prior to Robert's role at Xenith Consulting, he was General Manager of Development, Resources at Parsons Brinckerhoff, and headed up their engineering project development and delivery group across the energy, mining and industrial markets. Robert has a diverse background across heavy industry, energy, mining and infrastructure; working in industry and as a consultant; and from the UK, Europe, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Robert has an extensive network in the mining industry, and routinely provides technical expert and due diligence services for mergers and acquisitions in the resources space. Previously a board member of the Infrastructure Association of Queensland and a trustee of CEDA, the Committee for Economic Development of Australia, Robert is also a non-executive director of a leading private school.


Alan Broome AM

Chairman Emeritus

Alan Broome is a professional Director and Business advisor with over 40 years experience in the Metals, Mining and Energy Industries.

Alan has extensive knowledge of the Mining Industry accumulated through involvement with Mining technology companies, government agencies and major international Mining companies in promoting Australian mining and developing global trade.

He is a Director and Chair of a number of Australian mining technology companies including Micromine Pty Ltd., Hedweld Group Pty Ltd.; CB3 Mining Ltd; Emeritus Chair of the Australian mining technology export group, Austmine (having been previous Chairman for 22 years); previous Chair of the Australian Government Action Agenda promoting Mining Technology; and previously the Deputy Chair of the world’s largest Internet based mining procurement company, Quadrem.

He has a special knowledge of South America and is Chairman of the Codelco-Rio Tinto technology Joint Venture, Rio De Cobre.


 

Ian Gibbs

Ian has over 35 years as a Designer, Manager and Innovator in the Telecommunications and Manufacturing sectors, with 25 years with RCR, leading teams in the Design and Manufacture of Materials Handling equipment. Motivated by the development of innovative materials handling and processing equipment solutions, in particular bespoke “In Pit” applications.

Actively leading RCR’s team, in the development of flexible mobile and semi mobile plant solutions, which puts RCR Mining at the forefront of this technology.


Mark Warren

Director
Chairman - Hazlewood Resources; Director - Optiro

Mark is an engineer with over 30 years' experience in the global mining industry. His experience includes technical, consulting and managerial roles across most commodities and geographies. Mark is the Managing Director of Optiro, an advisory services firm that consults world-wide to mining and exploration companies on mine establishment and optimisation and he is the Chairman of Hazelwood Resources, a tungsten producer with production facilities in Vietnam and mining projects in Australia. Mark has spent 15 years in the management of consulting services to the mining sector, He also has experience in mining equipment supply and manufacturing as well as working as an engineer in mining operations.


Patrick Smith

Director
Managing Director -AMC Consultants

Patrick is Managing Director at AMC Consultants, a leading independent mining consultancy providing services exclusively to the world’s minerals industry and the minerals finance sector. We work with our clients to plan new mines or improve the operations of existing mines, with a primary focus on achieving optimum output and return.

Patrick has 30 years of mining consultancy and operational experience—principally in the design and operation of open-pit and underground metalliferous mines. Prior to joining AMC Consultants in 2004, he worked for coal, gold, and nickel mining companies in NSW, QLD, and WA.

Patrick holds a degree in mining engineering, is a chartered professional of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Max Wijasuriya

Max Wijasuriya is Vice President Capital Equipment for Metso, which is a global leader of sustainable technology and services for mining, construction, and oil & gas industries. Metso has a unique offering of equipment, services, and intelligence and provides sustainable process performance for these industries.

Max has over 24 years of experience across a range of industries including mining, construction, power generation, electronics, telecommunications - the last 15 of these in senior management with a particular focus on strategy, market and business development both in Australia and overseas. He has a degree in Engineering, and a Masters in Business Management and speaks five languages, four of those fluently.

Max is also on the Executive Committee of the Australia-China Business Council (ACBC) WA division, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (AusIMM), and the Institute of Engineers Australia. 


Jonathan Law

Director
CSIRO Mineral Resources

Jonathan Law is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a geologist by training and has worked across the value chain of the mineral resources industry and in many countries around the world. A major focus of his working career has been managing the interface between research and practical applications in industry.

He currently leads CSIRO’s mineral exploration, mining, processing and sustainability research as Director of Mineral Resources. The Business Unit brings together CSIRO’s research with global partners in academia, government and industry to tackle short and longer term challenges to the sustainability of the Australian Minerals industry.


Claire Tuder

Claire Tuder is an experienced senior executive with international marketing, business development and public relations experience in both the private and public sectors. She is a proven leader and change agent.

Prior to MICROMINE, Claire was the Director of Sales at the West Australian Government’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority where she led international investment attraction campaigns for federal priority projects including the Perth City Link and Elizabeth Quay. In March 2016, Claire was recognised as a leading business entrepreneur through the 40under40 Awards.

Claire has a Bachelor of Communication from Edith Cowan University and is a graduate of the AICD’s International Company Director’s Course.


Dallas Wilkinson

Vice President & General Manager Minova - Australia / Asia and Global Technology

An excellent business leader with outstanding business acumen and a rich leadership portfolio. Dallas oversees the operations of the Minova Ground Support business across Australia and Asia together with managing Minova’s Global Technology. In this role, he is extensively involved with high level sales, customer management and representations, marketing, operations, services, manufacturing and supply chain functions across Australia and Asia. The global technology component of his role has full accountability for Minova’s Global R&D program and associated technology including partnerships programs with OEM’s and other industry groups.

Dallas has over 27 year’s expert experience in the global mining and construction industries commencing with Orica in 1989. His previous position’s included General Manager of Innovation and Development (Explosives and Mining Chemicals), Vice President of Operations in Africa and Vice President Operations and Sustainability SHES.

Dallas holds a B.Sc (Hons), PhD (Chemistry), MBA (Technology Management), GAICD (Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors), Fellow of AusIMM (The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy), FIQ (Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying) and is a Board member of Minova International Limited and associated Minova Asian entities.


 

Brad Shaw

President APAC Africa Region - Ausenco

Brad is Ausenco's President APAC Africa Region and a senior executive with 20+ years’ experience in engineering, procurement and construction projects across 4 continents.

Brad has P&L responsibility for consulting, studies, project delivery and operations and maintenance service offerings across Australia, Asia, Africa, parts of Europe and the Middle East. He is also a Board Member of Kramer Ausenco.   Prior to working for Ausenco, Brad worked for WorleyParsons and John Holland Construction and Engineering

Brad's sector experience includes gold, copper, lithium, coal, iron ore, oil & gas, power and infrastructure.  He has worked across all project phases including scoping, feasibility, FEED, detailed design, project delivery, operations and maintenance and capital program management.  He also has experience in internal audit, risk assessments and business improvement as well as a range of contract types including EPC.

Brad is a member of:

  • Member of the Construction Industry Institute Research Team on Contracting Strategy Best Practice.

 


Sabina Shugg AM

Sabina is National Lead, Mining Performance at KPMG.  Sabina is a mining engineer with nearly 30 years’
experience in operational roles and management consulting.

Sabina started her mining career in 1987 as the assay clerk at the newly opened Jubilee Mine outside Kalgoorlie before commencing mining studies at WASM a few years later. After graduation Sabina continued her career with Normandy at Golden Crown, Golden Grove, Big Bell, Mt McClure and Bronzewing operations undertaking  a range of operations management experience covering both underground and open pit environments before moving to Newcrest for the Telfer Underground Feasibility study. Sabina then joined Momentum Partners, a boutique management consultancy, and subsequently KPMG as part of the acquisition of Momentum Partners in 2014.

Sabina founded and runs Women in Mining and Resources WA (WIMWA) which has grown to nearly 2500 members state-wide since its inception in 2003. In 2015 Sabina was awarded the Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to the mining industry through executive roles in the resources sector, and as a role model and mentor to women.

 


Brett Morgan

Mr Morgan’s extensive global corporate experience in key logistics, manufacturing and business development positions with multi-national firms have placed him in a unique situation to provide a highly intuitive, structured and intelligent service to RME’s customers for over ten years.

Mr Morgan has been solely responsible for identifying areas of operational optimisation for RME customers across the globe and especially in emerging markets in Eastern Europe/Russia, Central Asia, the Middle East and the CIS. As General Manager, Customer Relations, RME, Mr Morgan leads a global team of Business Development Managers, Capital Sales and Service Account Managers and Sales Coordinators to pursue world’s best practice standards of asset support and mill relining operations optimisation.

Mr Morgan sits on the Governance Committee of RME MILL RELINING and is an invitee consultant to the RME Holdings Board of Directors.


Trent Wehr

With in excess of 20 years’ experience as a Senior Executive within the Mining and Resources sector, my background encompasses broad knowledge of mining application and extraction methods, operational line leadership, and large project management exposure. Coupled with comprehensive experience in legal, financial and commercial management accompanied by effective business development throughout the local and international mining industry. Formal qualifications consist of an undergrad degree with a double major in Finance & Business Law, Post Graduate Studies and MBA specialising in Leadership and Management. My current role is with Liebherr-Australia as Managing Director Mining.
