The CMP conference covered a wide range of topics such as Flotation, Hydrometallurgy, Testwork, Rare Earths, Gold Processing and advances in Comminution science.
A keynote paper was presented by Hatch Engineering titled ‘Update of Chilean Mining Projects and Technological Trends’ which summarised some US$70-billion of greenfield and brownfield projects in Chile over the next 6-7 years.
The paper identified that 75% of new processing circuits will use SAG mill technology compared to 25% which will use HPGR crusher technology; while on the question of limited water supply 23% will use seawater, 46% desalination plants, and 31% will be supplied from groundwater sources.
