Aker Wirth was audited by the accredited certification body DNV in late 2011. The company was granted both re-certification in occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001:2007) and the initial certification in environmental protection (ISO 14001:2004).

"Our customers demand high levels of reliability and sustainability from their partners," says CEO Christoph Kleuters. "This independent certification confirms that we take responsibility for people and the environment at a high level that goes far beyond the legal standards.

"The company undertook extensive measures to improve work safety and environmental protection. For example, buildings and the working areas have been modernised, the waste concept reorganised and personal protective equipment for employees further improved. Further improvements are planned for 2012.

The auditors underscored the high levels of openness, honesty and fairness regarding the areas audited. Kleuters concluded by saying: "The full and intensive support of the entire staff enabled the successful audit. We are proud that work safety and environmental protection are visibly lived in our company."
