Custom gear manufacturer and Gold Sponsor of the recent Austmine Networking Series in Brisbane, Ronson Gears, is not only taking advantage of the strength of the Australian mining industry locally, but also contributing significantly to the 2009-2010 $87 billion manufacturing export total!

Around 15% of Ronson Gears turnover is generated from mining export.  The manufacture of spur and helical gears up to 900mm in diameter, bevel gears, gear racks, worms and worm wheels, as well as the manufacture and assembly of small custom gear boxes, is all in a day’s work for the team at the Ronson plant in Melbourne. 

Here gears for rock drilling applications, exciter gear boxes on vibratory screens, underground mining applications, feeder breakers, pumps, cable locking systems and longwall applications are manufactured for local OEM suppliers. These world-leading mining equipment brands are fitted with gears custom made by Ronson, and distributed to mines across the globe, including the USA  South America, China and Africa. 

According to Managing Director Gordon New, staying competitive in the export market, while also maintaining world class gear practices can only be possible with ongoing investment in state of the art technology. “Over the last 15 years we have commissioned 15 new machines, from CNC lathes, to dedicated CNC gear measuring machinery, which ensures a 2 micron repeatability reading on the accuracy of a gear tooth profile.  These investments ensure that not only do we stay competitive, but so too do our customers, who are competing on a global scale daily.
