“Australia is a world leader in innovative Mining Equipment Technology and Services (METS), a sector valued at over $35B pa supporting the Australian economy,” said Tim Mclennan, Austmine Director Queensland.

“We chose to hold the conference in Brisbane as Queensland is a key player in the sector with leading suppliers covering the region from Mt Isa, NE Queensland, to the coal fields and SE Queensland.

South East Queensland, and specifically the Brisbane region, can be looked at analogous to the Silicon Valley of the METS sector with major public and private innovation groups from the CSIRO at QCAT, SIMTARS, CRC for Mining, UQ and QUT aligned along the Brisbane River, forming an engine for innovation and high technology jobs.”

Conference sessions will focus on opportunities in such locations as Laos, Russia, Kazakhstan, Chile and South Africa.

Other sessions will focus on Global Partnerships, Advanced Technology and Safety and Innovation.

“The resources sector is a major driver of innovation and new technologies which translate to opportunities for new and emerging industries to provide step change technologies from robotics, and telecommunications through to precision engineers and gaming technologies to support this industry,” Mclennan said.
