The vision of this team is to provide a technical resource of the highest quality to both industry and Metso's related business lines. The team provides optimisation of drill and blasting, comminution, flotation and dewatering, and works with customers to develop and implement operating strategies to improve the profitability of their operations. The results can be seen in many projects executed around the world.
”We have been able to deliver considerable increases in the production of our customers’ operations: significant increases in throughput (from five to thirty percent) and metal recovery, cost and energy reduction, as well as increases in overall process efficiency have been achieved at a number of operations worldwide,” explains Walter Valery, PhD, Senior Vice President (Global), Metso PTI.
”Our experts also provide services for greenfield projects, expansions, throughput forecasting and geometallurgical modelling,” says Valery.
Metso PTI supplies and supports several products they have designed to enhance the operation of mineral processes. SmartTag™ is an innovative system consisting of ruggedized radio frequency identification tags for tracking ores from the mine through the processes of a plant, allowing ore characteristics such as ore hardness, fragmentation and mineral content to be linked with performance in the processing plant. In 2010, SmartTag™ won a Queensland State iAward in the industrial application category.
SmartEar™ is an acoustic monitoring system designed to prevent damage and minimise wear to mill liners caused by the impact of grinding balls, and consists of rugged microphones, a signal transducer system and software to process the data.
Both SmartTag™ and SmartEar™ were developed and are produced by Metso PTI in Brisbane and are being successfully implemented around the world.
