METS trade mission to Indonesia 16-20 April 2012 

Trade and Investment Queensland, the Queensland Government’s export agency, invites you to participate in the mining equipment, technology and services (METS) trade mission to Indonesia.This trade mission will provide Queensland companies with opportunities to promote and profile their products and services to a targeted group of potential business partners from Indonesian mining companies. The program will include meetings with the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Indonesian Mining Association. Participants will be able to meet high level and strategic clients as well as representatives from their industries. This mission is an excellent opportunity for Queensland companies supplying equipment, technology and services to the mining sector to showcase their capabilities to the Indonesian mining industry. 
 
Ozmine 2012: 16-18 April:
Coinciding with Ozmine 2012, trade mission participants will first attend the three-day mining exhibition and conference from 16–18 April in Jakarta. The trade mission then continues to Balikpapan, East Kalimantan for meetings with the Provincial Department of Energy and Mineral Resources and mining companies on 19–20 April.Now in its sixth year, Ozmine attracts more than 2000 trade and industry visitors. In 2011, 70 Australian companies, including 19 Queensland companies, attended and exhibited at Ozmine. Trade mission participants are encouraged to attend Ozmine and register directly with Austrade. The cost for purchasing a booth at the Ozmine exhibition is $3,710. Alternatively, companies visiting Indonesia for the first time, particularly in the training sector have the opportunity to be represented in the Trade and Investment Queensland booth however places are limited. Companies will be offered this opportunity on a first come first served basis. Further information is available on the Austrade website.

Due to an increase in global demand for resources the Indonesian mining industry is experiencing strong growth, with a number of mining operations expanding production. Understanding the local mining industry as well as meeting strategic partners is critical to successfully export to this market.Trade mission participants will receive the following assistance and support:

Austmine and Trade and Investment Queensland will jointly lead a coal mission to South Africa and Mozambique between 20 May - 1 June 2012. The mission intends to provide Mining Equipment, Technology & Services (METS) companies the opportunity to meet with the decision makers from Anglo American & Xstrata Coal in South Africa and Vale Mozambique & Rio Tinto in Mozambique, followed by mine site visits.

Proposed program

Week 1: South Africa 20 - 25 May

  • hosted by Anglo American and Xstrata Coal in Johannesburg with pitching and meetings;
  • meetings with the South Africa Department of Transport; and then
  • site visits to their operations around Witbank & Ogies in the Mpumalanga province, NE South Africa.

Week 2: Mozambique 28 May - 1 June

  • hosted by Rio Tinto and Vale Mozambique in Maputo with pitching and meetings;
  • meetings with the Mozambique Investment Attraction Agency and Mozambique Ministry of Transport & Communications; and then
  • site visits to their operations in the Tete province, NW Mozambique.

The mission will be strictly limited to 20 Austmine members and/or QLD based comapnies, ideally one representative per firm.

Participants can choose to sign up for either Week 1 or 2 or both weeks. A mission fee of $1,000 + GST will be charged per firm if participants choose either Week 1 or Week 2; and $1,500 + GST per firm for participation during both weeks. The mission fee will be used to cover in-country logistics and promotional activity.

Firms will need to cover the international travel, accommodation, meals and intra country travel to Tete expenses of their representatives.

We must emphasise this is what we are planning and as yet not all facets are confirmed, hence we are only asking of a registration of interest.
