Event Begins: 8 Mar 2018 12:00 PM   Ends: 8 Mar 2018 2:00 PM
Venue: Deloitte Brisbane Office, Level 25 and 26, Riverside Centre, 123 Eagle Street, Brisbane, QLD, 4000

Austmine and Deloitte are excited to welcome Scott Winter, Managing Director, MACH Energy to our CEO Leadership Lunch in Brisbane on 8th March 2018.

At this CEO Leadership Lunch, Scott will draw on his extensive experience to discuss the technology priorities for MACH Energy in 2018.

His appointment to develop MACH Energy began 2014 after Droxford International Ltd showed interest for purchasing sustainable energy assets in Australia.  Scott spent this time assessing potential assets to acquire and develop throughout Australia. He was required to identify target transactions, represent business interests with vendors, engage resources, negotiate with debt and equity financiers and conduct commercial negotiations. Scott’s involvement in developing and implementing the business strategy also required him to lead the operational, technical, commercial and legal teams for the purpose of due diligence, transaction documentation and operational readiness.

After forming a binding agreement in January 2016 for the purchase of Rio Tinto’s Mount Pleasant thermal coal project, Scott became responsible for implementing commercial plans to enable the full development of the open cut mine. Located 4km from Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley region, Mount Pleasant is expected to produce up to 10.5 million tonnes of run of mine thermal coal annually.

Scott has more than 25 years’ experience in coal mining, including lead roles managing construction and operating efforts for facilities in northern New South Wales, central Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.  Prior to establishing MACH Energy Australia, Scott held executive management roles with global mining contractor Thiess.  During this time, he oversaw the development of large-scale new and existing mining projects, while providing strategic leadership and direction for Thiess’ performance across a portfolio of mining projects.  The mines varied in size from 3-10Mtpa and included clients such as BHP, BMC, Anglo, Peabody, OzMinerals, Excel Coal and Xstrata.  He was later appointed General Manager (Mining) for Tinkler Group, prior to leaving this role to develop MACH Energy. Within Tinkler Group, Scott was responsible for the business’s strategic planning, and financial and operational performance.  He also lead and managed other associated businesses that provided specialist mining support functions within the Group.

His management and engineering experiences are diverse and include providing dynamic technical input, managing operational teams, through to contributing to acquisition efforts.  As a qualified mining engineer he is able to apply pragmatic insights to enhance financial and operational evaluations.  His early career included 14 years of operations, engineering design and project management experience.
