MEC Mining A Finalist In The 2015 Telstra Queensland Business Awards

MEC Mining A Finalist In The 2015 Telstra Queensland Business Awards

Brisbane-based global mining consultancy MEC Mining has capped off its milestone 10th anniversary year by being selected as a finalist at the prestigious 2015 Telstra Queensland Business Awards.

MEC Mining founder/director Daniel Chippendale, co-director Ted Boulton and managing director Simon Cohn were honoured to attend last night’s gala Queensland Awards Dinner at the Sofitel Brisbane Hotel.

As a first-time entrant in the awards, MEC was one of six businesses nominated in the Queensland Medium Business Award category.

Recognising a need for experienced mining engineers to support the expanding coal market in Queensland, Mr. Chippendale started the company in Mackay in 2005. Two years later, Mr. Boulton and Mr. Cohn joined as company directors.

Now, with a Brisbane HQ and an office in Santiago, Chile, MEC Mining specialises in mine planning, onsite management, geology, training and innovative and flexible technical services solutions for the international mining industry.

In its 10 years of operation, MEC has contributed to a total value of $140 billion worth of projects and provided expertise in 13 countries and across 11 commodities. In addition, it has completed 400 projects and consulted for more than 100 clients since its inception, specialising in both open-cut and underground mining for the coal and minerals sectors.

Mr. Cohn said it was a major feat for MEC – as only a first-time entrant – to be selected as a finalist at the 2015 Telstra Queensland Business Awards.

“This is a significant achievement for MEC and we could not have made it this far without the efforts and support from all our loyal clients. Thank you for your hard work and contribution to MEC’s success,” he said.

“Thank you to our wonderful team, whose tireless efforts and belief in going the extra mile to get the job done – the culture which makes MEC such a great place to work – has also seen us recognised at the awards.”

With a team of highly skilled and experienced mine planners, geologists and consultants, the ever-growing company is now expanding its services to work on some of the world’s largest mining projects. It is also a leading industry advocate of the Queensland Government’s mentoring program which supports women in the resources sector. For more information visit www.mecmining.com.
