RIN, Austmine Enter Agreement to Strengthen Region’s METS sector
Resource Industry Network has joined with Austmine in a collaborative agreement to further each organisation’s support of the mining equipment, technology and services (METS) sector in the Mackay region.
Resource Industry Network Chair Tony Caruso said the reciprocal arrangement was designed to strengthen cooperation between the two organisations with a demonstrated interest in the sustainable development of the METS sector in Queensland.
‘RIN has been working cooperatively with Austmine for many years to promote resources sector opportunities to local businesses,’ Mr Caruso said.
‘This arrangement acknowledges those positive linkages and lays the foundation for greater cooperation between the organisations and their respective members.’
Mr Caruso said the agreement was a natural development in the relationship between two dynamic and successful representative groups.
‘This agreement is focused on delivering new networking opportunities, speaking engagements, member updates and shared events, such as trade missions,’ he said.
Christine Gibbs Stewart, Austmine’s CEO, echoed Mr Caruso’s sentiments and said, ‘We have been working in partnership with RIN for many years and this agreement strategically aligns our organisations even further. In difficult times like this, collaboration is the key to creating new opportunities.’
‘In 2013, RIN was instrumental in assisting us with our major national METS survey which demonstrated that importance of METS not only to the Mackay region, but reinforced the strong expertise and experience in regional hubs. Since that time, we have been seeking to better link our metropolitan and national activities to the regions as we believe there is significant advantage to be gained.’
‘This will be a focus of our partnership and we look forward to working closely with RIN in this regard.’ Ms Stewart said.
RIN’s role is to advocate for the mining supply chain businesses in this region and highlight the capabilities they have to service the resources industry. RIN does this by facilitating a networking and relationship building process in order for a collective voice to be heard.
Austmine promotes the advancement and competitive positioning of Australian technology and collaboration and innovation in mining and resources. They aim to make Australia the true METS global innovation hub and drive opportunities globally.
