WEARX Awarded Hunter Manufacturer of the Year

WEARX Awarded Hunter Manufacturer of the Year

Mining solutions provider WEARX has won the prestigious 2015 ‘Manufacturer of the Year Award’ at this year’s Hunter Manufacturing Awards – an event recognising the Hunter region’s best practices in manufacturing.

“Our team is dedicated to delivering world class performance in manufacturing and keeping it in the Hunter region. We are honoured to receive this award in recognition of our commitment to best practice and success in tough market conditions,” CEO Gary Newman said.

Judges said WEARX’s outstanding success in a short period of time made it a ‘worthy winner’ for the top accolade, which was presented to the WEARX by sponsor Downer Rail.

“A few short years ago, WEARX created a vision to be the global leader in wear solutions. Its mission was to provide highly innovative and effective wear solutions to the global mining industry. They have gone about their mission with passion and determination and have achieved remarkable results in a very short time frame,” the judges said.

WEARX came into being in 2012 with the amalgamation of WAMCAST, Precision Rubber and Wear Applications and Management Services.

Judges said the WEARX team successfully combined a smart strategy that identified the right niche in the market, with the melding of a range of complementary production capabilities into a disciplined, high-quality operation.

In its second year of operation, WEARX increased export revenue by 35 per cent on the previous year, winning the 2014 Premier’s export award for minerals, energy and related services in recognition.

The company credited this success to its focus on opportunities in the Pacific, New Caledonia, Africa and South America.

“Their success has been in no short measure due to the fact they committed to a deep understanding of the problems and opportunities facing their clients, and they have created solutions that have delivered real, measurable improvements in productivity and costs for these clients,” judges said.

WEARX, which has its headquarters in Newcastle and offices in Ballina, Orange, Karara, Perth, Mount Isa and Roxby Downs, delivers solutions to mining operations that maximise plant availability, minimise downtime and deliver measurable cost savings. This is achieved by inspecting site conditions and manufacturing the right wear solution that will exceed operational goals.
