Peru - Tracing Ore Feed Conveyed to the Concentrator Plant
Austmine, METS Ignited and Linkminers invite you to apply for the challenge 'Tracing Ore Feed Conveyed to the Concentrator Plant'. This supply opportunity is part of the Virtual Supplier Development Program Peru.
The operation seeks to optimise the tracing of ore that is fed into the concentrator plant.
There is a need to reduce variability and monitor ore during extraction, transportation, primary crushing and entry into the concentrator plant. This challenge is observed at operations daily.
A practical method is sought to identify the types of ore and have predictability in feeding the types of ore as it enters the concentrator plant.
This mining operation is an open-pit copper-zinc mine located in the Andes Mountains in Peru. The production process involves fragmented rocks being transported by haul trucks to the concentrator plant. The ore then undergoes grinding and flotation before the copper and zinc concentrates are transported by pipeline to be filtered and shipped at the port facility.
A high-speed camera was previously used to identify the non-crushable objects during the truck unloading process into the primary crusher. However, the solution was not successful given the speed at which the ore fell into the crusher.

Solutions will be shortlisted and successful companies will be notified to attend a challenge Q&A session with the operations on the 22nd or 23rd September. METS companies will pitch their solutions directly to the mining company across the 29th September – 30th October.
