Expomin postponed to April 2021 and announces virtual exhibition and congress for November 2020

Press Release - Santiago, July 30, 2020

The organization in charge of EXPOMIN, originally scheduled from November 9th to 13th, 2020, is forced to postpone the event for the next year, from April 19th to 23rd.

FISA, member of GL events Group, organizer of the largest mining show in Latin America, reports that it was forced to adopt this measure, in view of the sanitary situation in Chile and worldwide, as a result of the COVID-19. In this context, the only possible and appropriate decision has been to postpone the exhibition due to force majeure, out of the organization control.

In this context, Francisco Sotomayor, EXPOMIN Director, announced that during November we will host a virtual version of this mining event, while the International Congress will be available via streaming, in order to stay connected until we meet again in April 2021. He also highlighted that the program is in process with the different institutions and key players of the sector, and it will be focused to analyze the different topics of interest that the industry has faced due the pandemic.

Additionally, Francisco Sotomayor explained that the organization is developing a digital platform, which will allow to have Expomin 2020 in a virtual way. In this platform, visitors will be able to visit exhibitor booths and visit a Marketplace with their products and services. They will be able to interact and chat, coordinate and have meetings in private virtual rooms and also to have access to various webinars and live streams"

The Minister of Mining, Baldo Prokurica, indicated that “the decision taken by the Expomin organization is the most appropriate, considering the sanitary situation in the country. The health of the Chilean people is the most important issue for the Government of President Sebastián Piñera, therefore all the initiatives taken to protect our population are on the right way”

Expomin will give us the opportunity to meet as industry through a virtual version of EXPOMIN in November of this year, and the face to face event in April 2021 will be very important to the

country considering its contribution to the economic reactivation and job generation, very affected by the pandemic, emphasized the Minister of Mining.

Sanitary protocol

On the occasion, the EXPOMIN Director highlighted that a complete sanitary protocol was developed by the organization which will be applied for the 2021 version of the exhibition. “The sanitary measures for all events are here to stay. A document has been prepared with our experts during these months in order to protect the health and safety of our exhibitors, strategic partners, suppliers, visitors and our headcounts”.
