New Service and Support Facility for FLSmidth

New Service and Support Facility for FLSmidth

The lower Hunter Valley continues to attract investment by some of the world’s leading corporations supplying the mining sector.  Construction is well progressed on a new service and support facility at Beresfield, NSW, for global mineral processing specialists FLSmidth.

The new purpose-built facility will bring together, under the one roof, the company’s operations currently located in a number of sites throughout the region.

Due for completion and commissioning in September the new facility is being constructed at the intersection of the main arterial roads servicing the Hunter Region, close to the coal mining assets and handling facilities in the Hunter Valley, central west and north-west of NSW.

Total area of the building is just over 4,700m2 including a 670m2 office area which will be home to regional administration, sales and project management teams.  An integrated training room is also part of the office compound and will provide the appropriate facilities and equipment for comprehensive customer training programs on the company’s range of equipment and services.

The 4,000+m2 factory complex will include the relocated woven wire plant, a site services depot, a component rebuild workshop and a 1700m2 fully-equipped workshop – some 40% larger than the current workshop.  A 16t overhead crane completes the fitout list.

The workshop will also be equipped with a digital exciter test bed and give the company world-leading service and testing facilities for screen and centrifuge vibration exciters.

“We are developing this custom-built facility to increase our support and service for the mining and minerals processing sectors, which will deliver long term benefits for our customers throughout the region,” said FLSmidth country manager Mark Clifford.  “Along with this major commitment at Beresfield our warehouse and manufacturing centre at Pinkenba (QLD) is scheduled for an upgrade and expansion of capabilities.”
