Mining's Next Horizon Webinar Series: Pt. 4 - Getting Ahead in the Digital Age of Mining

The mining industry is ushering in a new way of operating, transformed by disruptive innovations, advanced digital technologies and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). This webinar series examines the rapid changes occurring in our industry and creates a vision of the future of mining.

We now have the tools to welcome in the next horizon for mining.  

Mine site safety, greater production and the search for efficiency is driving utilisation of digital tools and capabilities, including cloud-enabled mobility, big data-powered analytics and the IIoT. This is transforming the very nature of our industry, leading to a deluge of data and information that organisations can use to streamline operations and have greater control and visibility of mine sites.

However, there is a long way to go until we realise the full potential of digital technologies and this webinar will discuss making more of the tools we have.

About the speakers: 

George Long, Digital Mining Lead, Accenture

George Long is a Senior Manager working in Accenture’s Industry X.0 program, with a focus on Digital Transformation in Mining.

George has 12 years' experience working at the nexus of technology and industry; the past 8 years have been in mining and metals. During this time George has visited over 50 mining operations globally and worked on projects across the whole value chain in numerous commodities and mining styles. Projects have been focused on integrated operations, value based decision making, dynamic planning through digital twin and AI and performance optimisation.

George leads Accenture's Digital Mining program which is transforming how mining companies operate by leveraging technology to enable people to change process.

Roy Pater, VP Marketing & Sales, Mineware

Joining MineWare in 2014, Roy successfully established our global business development and account management operations, now leading our Global Marketing, OEM, Product Strategy & Global Account Management teams. With over 30 years in the ICT and mining industry, Roy has a strong passion to utilise his experience to enable MineWare to delivers exceptional products and after-sales service.



Sam Oliver, Senior Applications Engineer, MathWorks Australia

Sam Oliver is a consultant engineer who specializes in helping organizations improve their operations and logistics through statistical analysis, along with predictive modeling and simulation. Prior to joining MathWorks, Sam worked for a leading supplier of brake system technology on application development for an electromechanical brake program. He also worked as a university research assistant and conducted research on the verification and integration phases of software development within the automotive industry. He received an M.Eng.Sc. in mechatronics, a B.Eng. in mechanical and manufacturing, and a B.Sc. in computer science from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
