Optimising the Process Plant Webinar Series: Part 3 - Energy and Water Management

Current mining conditions are characterised by declining ore grades, complex mineralisation and a deeper search for valuable orebodies. This has significantly impacted the mineral processing stage of the mining life cycle, creating cost pressures and forcing miners and METS to innovate in pursuit of long-term success and sustainability.

This webinar series will explore the key technologies, innovative systems and unique solutions presented by Australian METS that are set to forge a more productive and efficient pathway forward in mineral processing. Throughout this five-part series, experts will provide an in-depth analysis of current and emerging challenges impacting the operation of process plants, along with discussing methods of combatting these to enable optimised processing from ore extraction to producing the final product.

Part 3 of our series will look at Energy and Water Management in process plants. With miners increasingly coming under pressure to reduce their footprint on the environment, processing technologies must now be designed to ensure sustainability. Both water scarcity and the high cost of energy are two major issues impacting mining operations around the world and are set to become more critical in the coming years.

This webinar will explore emerging technologies and procedures for managing water and energy consumption in process plants. Senior experts in the field will look at the current landscape today and how future innovations will re-shape the footprint of process plants.

Topics covered in this webinar include:

  • Current methods of managing plant energy and water consumption
  • Systems for monitoring energy consumption and improving efficiency
  • Dry sorting of ore and other technologies that reduce water usage in mineral processing
  • The future small footprint process plant

Our expert speakers are:

  • Todd Wisdom, Head of Tailings, FLSmidth
  • John Flynn, Vice President Business Development, Osmoflo
  • Mark Gerber, Business Development Manager, Alfa Laval
  • Neil Wissemann, Thermal Design Engineer, Energy Division, Alfa Laval
