Phil Welten, General Director, KAZ Minerals Aktogay

Phil is the General Director at KAZ Minerals Aktogay mine site. He graduated from the WA School of Mines with a BSc Mining Enginnering. With a strong focus on people development, continuous improvement and over 40 years of mining experience in both open pit and underground mines he has held senior management roles including CEO, COO and General Manager and worked in a variety of locations including Australia, South East Asia, Canada, USA, Fiji, PNG, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan with exposure to gold, copper, uranium, iron ore, graphite, tin, PGMs.

Nariman Absametov, Head of Investment, Tau-Ken Samruk JSC

Nariman Absametov has a degree of Master of Finance and actuarial statistics (Australian National University, 2016) and degree of bachelor of business administration (Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic research, 2009).

Nariman has a vast experience in mining sector. His working career started from joint venture of Kazatomprom and Japanese consortium Sumitomo Corp – Kansai Electric power. In 2011 joined the Samruk-Kazyna Welfare Fund and was responsible for development of mining assets. In 2013 was part of Areva’s Kazakhstani branch. Since 2017 Head of Investment department of Tau-Ken Samruk and in charge of M&A deals, development of new projects and investors relations.

Nariman structured and executed 4 M&A deals with the value of $100 mln and raised financing more than $300 mln for the development of the mining projects in Kazakhstan.
