||Structured meetings to build connections with senior decision-makers from a range of mining companies
|Become a supplier to an emerging mining market set to ramp up development of considerable copper, gold and silver deposits

||The recent signing of the Australia - Peru FTA is set to reduce costs for Australian mining suppliers seeking to export to Peru
Austmine's 2018 Peru mission will provide an unparalleled opportunity to explore your business prospects in the Peruvian mining sector as it gears up for considerable development in the coming years. It will take place the week after our mission to Chile, providing a chance to attend both and utilise your time in South America most effectively.
To maximise your opportunities in South America, we encourage companies attending our Chile or Peru mission to consider participating in Expomin. There is an opportunity to be part of the Australian Mining Innovation Pavilion organised by Austrade and participate in a range of activities specifically for Australian companies. A special Expomin package is available for Austmine members participating on our missions.
For companies from South Australia, you may be interested in the South Australia Expanding Marketing South America Program which incorporates our missions to Chile and/or Peru. For more information click here.
Our mission agenda is:
Freeport McMoRan Cerro Verde - This site is an open-pit copper and molybdenum mining complex just 20 miles southwest of Arequipa. Construction activities associated with a large-scale expansion at Cerro Verde were completed in September 2015. The project expanded the concentrator facilities from 120,000 metric tons-per-day (mtd) to 360,000 mtd and provides incremental annual production of approximately 600 million pounds of copper and 15 million pounds of molybdenum.
MMG Las Bambas - Las Bambas is a large, long-life copper mine located in Cotabambas, Apurimac region of Peru. It is a relatively new project with the first ore produced in December 2015 and is progressively ramping up production. Once in full production Las Bambas will be one of the world’s largest copper mines, with an annual nameplate throughput capacity of 51.1 million tonnes. Las Bambas produced 330,227 tonnes of copper concentrate during 2016 and an estimated production between 420,000 to 460,000 tonnes of copper concentrate in 2017.
Along with these site visits, meetings with management and executives of local miners will allow you to develop your understanding of the sector and build contacts in Peru. This will include an opportunity to present to a range of companies interested in the solutions of Australian suppliers and looking to learn more about the METS on the delegation. Other miners involved in this may include: Anglo American, Buenaventura, Freeport McMoRan, Newmont Mining, Hudbay Minerals, Barrick Gold, Hochschild Mining, Southern Peru Copper Corporation and Pan American Silver.
Other opportunities to build relationships and learn more about the Peruvian market will come from networking events, such as the Australian/Peruvian METS Round table, and market briefings.
