Austmine’s 2018 Russia Mining Mission will provide opportunities for Australian METS to build their presence in one of the largest markets in the world. Targeting the mining hub of Magadan, the mission will incorporate a mix of site visits, executive meetings, presentation opportunities and networking events.
Attendees will gain first-hand knowledge of mining methods and existing technology deployed in Russian gold production, with significant insights to operations owned by Polyus Gold, OJSC Pavlik Gold and Susuman Gold. Along with this, meetings and functions throughout the week will allow Australian businesses to communicate their capabilities to senior executives, management and technical personnel from a variety of miners, including Kinross Gold and Polymetal.
Prior to touring the sites on the mission, find out more about them below:
Polyus Gold Natalka - This is a large conventional shovel and truck open-pit gold operation. Commissioning of the site was first launched in September 2017, with full production anticipated towards the end of 2018. This provides an opportunity for Australian METS to learn if their technologies and services can assist Polyus in ramping up operations to meet targets. The mine has ore reserves of approximately 16moz and boasts the largest processing plant in Russia, with a capacity of 10mtpa. It is expected that annual production will reach 420 - 470koz for the duration of the mine life. Natalka’s major processing equipment, including the primary crusher, the crushed ore conveyer, the primary SAG mill and the main ball mill, is currently in operation having undergone a successful trial run. The construction of auxiliary facilities and supporting infrastructure is ongoing.
OJSC Pavlik Gold - Pavlik began developing this greenfields site in Magadan in 2008 and mining was commenced in 2014. The project includes an open-pit mine with 150.9 million tonnes of ore reserves and a gold processing facility with an annual throughput capacity of 4 million tonnes of ore, delivered by FLSMidth. The company is currently focused on driving greater value from their existing technology and processing equipment in order to continue to ramp up annual production. Visiting the site on the Austmine mission will provide an excellent opportunity to build relationships and contacts at a newly established gold site with significant growth expected.
