Unearthed Adelaide, our fifth hackathon for 2016, took place on the last weekend of May at the St Paul's Creative Centre. The event saw 70+ innovators and entrepreneurs work in teams to creative innovations solutions to sector challenges from Iluka Resources, the South Australian Government and Santos.
First Prize went to Journey Optimisers, a team of CMU students who developed a work scheduling tool which visualised optimal routes based on key factors and indicators provided from Santos data. The team produced a clever visualisation that, with further development, can quickly and easily be implemented into Santos's current operations. The tool has the capacity to improve overall efficiency in terms of reducing time spent by workers on site, monitoring and planning routes and allowing Santos to better track its operations.
In just 54 hours, 14 prototype technologies were presented to the judging panel with several top teams incentivised to continue development in the immediate future.
