Russian Mining Sector: Keeping up with Changes to Resource Development

Is the recent $700m Polyus Gold listing in the London Stock Exchange a sign of things to come? Russian companies are adopting many of the resource and planning approaches used in the Western mining industry. Investment by Western companies is set to increase in Russia, and Russian companies are venturing beyond their borders to other exploration hotspots such as Africa, Kazakhstan, and the Baltics. Changes to reporting codes are happening in some former Soviet Union countries and changes to Russian legislation are currently being considered.

What should capital companies interested in Russian projects and operators look out for? Fresh from his work preparing the Competent Persons Report for the Polyus listing, Mark Chesher will present a brief overview of this topic and take questions from the floor.

Topics will include:

  • An overview of the mining situation in Russia.

  • Making sure your input data is sound.

  • Applying strategic optimization techniques.

  • Applying CRIRSCO Reporting codes in the Russian context.

  • Pulling together complex estimates and reports such as the recent Polyus CPR.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to upgrade your knowledge of the Russian minerals industry from an expert in the field!
