Austmine 2019 Awards Interview: PanAust
Austmine recently caught up with Murray Phipps, Logistics and Supply Chain Manager of PanAust Asia to discuss the project that has led them to be a finalist for the Miner Innovation category at the Austmine 2019 Awards. Murray discusses what this means for the business and why their initiative was a crucial innovation.
How do you feel about being selected as a finalist for the Austmine 2019 awards?
The PanAust logistics team is delighted and honoured to have had its diesel backloading initiative recognised by Austmine. The project required extensive effort by various departments over an extended period of time and is truly the result of a collaborative team effort.
Why do you think your entry stood out to our judges?
Our unique solution incorporates backloading and generates value for the business from both a cost and environmental perspective. Another unique element of this entry is how the Company explored opportunities to increase gender diversity in logistics teams through this project.
Why is it important to have awards that recognise success in our sector?
Recognising initiatives developed within the mining sector that reduce environmental impacts and highlight the importance of diversity counteracts negative assumptions the public can sometimes hold over the industry. The Austmine Innovation Awards also encourages the sharing of such initiatives for the betterment of the industry and wider communities.
