Webinar Recording: Optimising the Mining Fleet Part 1 - Manufacturing the Future Fleet

Austmine's Optimising the Mining Fleet webinar series kicked off with a discussion on Manufacturing the Future Fleet. This explored the latest advancements in mining machinery and technology, the changing landscape of METS manufacturing and insights into what the future fleet will look like.

The expert speakers for the webinar were:

  • Jason Whiteley, Product Development Manager - Surface Vehicles, Elphinstone

Jason discussed the current equipment that Elphinstone are working on and the manufacturing facilities and systems that have enabled them to become world leaders in mining innovation.

  • Steve Turner, General Manager - Sales, DT HiLoad

Steve provided an overview of the driving forces behind innovation of dump bodies, predominantly searching for lower cost per tonne. He then provided some interesting case studies of the equipment DT HiLoad have created through responding to the needs of the mining industry.

The webinar included an insightful panel discussion on the following topics:

1.       Around the world we’re seeing the mining sector utilise various innovations such as autonomous systems and sensors to drive greater productivity from mobile equipment. How can METS manufacturers keep up with the current pace of change and ensure that equipment is compatible with the range of new technologies in this space?

2.       How has the landscape of mining equipment manufacturing in Australia changed from a decade ago? Would you say we are more or less advanced than other industries?

3.       What do you believe the future mining fleet will look like? What technologies or features will we see being introduced?
