Austmine was pleased to work with BHP to launch the Next Steps Towards Fatality Elimination Program to the Australian METS sector.

BHP are stepping up their efforts towards eliminating fatalities and have therefore commenced a global safety improvement initiative that will enable a step change to permanently remove fatalities across the business.

A central component to BHP’s safety improvement initiative is to assess industry best practice and to gather a broad range of insights, experience and innovation to achieve the goal of fatality elimination.

With this in mind, BHP are inviting organisations and individuals to put forward emerging solutions and innovations that can enhance safety and reduce workforce risk at BHP's global operations.

This launch webinar provided:

  • An overview BHP's global fatality elimination strategy and the focus on major operational risks
  • A discussion of the importance of engaging the METS sector in this process and finding new solutions to key challenges
  • An outline purpose and outcomes of the Next Steps Towards Fatality Elimination Program
  • Details about the submission process for companies and individuals providing solutions to BHP

The launch event featured presentations and discussions from:

  • Sundeep Singh, Group Procurement Officer, BHP
  • Cristian Sandoval, VP Safety & Security, BHP
  • Peter Barrenger, Principal, Local Buying, BHP
