Jayben is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) with integrated engineering and manufacturing specialising in off highway power train and agricultural power take off products as well as a range of specialized light to medium industrial plant and equipment.

Grange Resources (Grange) is Australia's oldest and most experienced magnetite producer. Grange owns and operates Australia's largest integrated iron ore mining and pellet production business.

Grange’s Savage River Mine is an open cut pit with a steep eastern wall and a history of frequent minor rockfalls. This is typical of many such mines around the world. The walls are steep with near vertical sections and horizontal sections called berms which are designed to provide stability to the high wall as well as provide catchment for loose rocks.

Grange has partnered with Jayben to design and manufacture a machine that can travel vertically down the high wall while scaling loose rocks with the added ability to transition onto the berms to clear off rocks to improve catchment.

The S60 Scaler

Jayben has developed a dedicated fully remote controlled, diesel powered crawler vehicle designed specifically for high wall scaling and inaccessible bench/berm material recovery in open cut mines. The standalone containerised, weatherproof, air-conditioned operator station completely removes the human element of high wall scaling and simulates the true and natural operation of the excavator. It incorporates an Advanced Augmented Reality (AR) User Interface (UI) vision system that provides accurate depth sensing and 360-degree situational awareness. All of this is connected to the Cloud through WiFi, enabling remote management and machine diagnostics.

The S60 Scaler System is an advanced, revolutionary step in open-pit high wall safety management.

Global Opportunity

High wall scaling and bench clearing is a problem for open pit mines all over the world. Many previous attempts to commercialise this capability have not resulted in a solution for the industry. Successful deployment of the S60 Scaler is an opportunity for all difficult pit conditions wherever they exist globally. The S60 Scaler is a significant innovation in a continuously improving industry and provides a step change in safety and productivity over all current alternatives.
