From Transactional to Transformational

For a number of reasons technology in mining operations has not held speed with that of other industries. Technology reliability and cost as well as mine remoteness and skilled users have all played a part. Amidst challenging operating conditions, Mining companies have focussed on ‘mining the mine’ and it hasn’t been until now that there has been a defining need for technology to reach the next level of productivity improvements. The perfect storm of declining commodity prices, deeper pits, increased competition and unstable world economics has lead a rush to embrace technology advances.

RungePincockMinarco (RPM) has been working to draw attention to the risks of mining in siloes with increased levels of research and development in developing enterprise technology solutions. Mining has historically operated in siloes with specialist systems that perform critical roles on individual sites operating with little to zero collaboration or interaction with other systems creating several risks. Systems and process without enterprise capability were not giving the level of visibility, agility and trust needed to optimise production within today’s volatile operating environment.

Change is not easy – especially in the world of Mining.

RPM is familiar with the challenges of change. As a company, we have transformed tenfold to remain relevant and competitive in today’s market. RPM recognised the lack of enterprise technology as a problem and developed a solution for the Mining industry. Development of Enterprise solutions is a big commitment to an organisation because it not only requires additional time and resources but it also requires discipline and regimented quality control in your development practices.

In 2012, we embarked upon a new strategy that would change mining forever. Our mission was to create a suite of commercial-off-the-shelf enterprise technology solutions to deliver the ‘Mine of the Future’.

We were able to imagine maintenance and production, working hand in hand. We imagined operators knowing the current status of their plant and mine planners having access to pit updates in real time. We imagined accurate visibility from site to boardroom. And with that, we delivered a suite of commodity-specific enterprise solutions across the entire mining value chain.

But we haven’t done this on our own.

RPM has partnered with like-minded industry leaders to deliver the next step change in productivity needed. We are working to help Mining companies realise the ‘Mine of the Future’ together with technology partners, Schneider Electric and Modular Mining Systems.

How could enterprise solutions transform your mining operation to be the ‘Digital Mining Enterprise of Tomorrow?’ Book your meeting with us at MINExpo now.
