IMARC 2016: Jonathon Law and Paul Lever - CSIRO and Mining3

The final session of day one in Austmine's Technology Theatre saw miners, METS and researchers discuss the need for our sector to embrace partnerships and collaboration. Jonathon Law, Director, CSIRO Minerals and Paul Lever, CEO, Mining3 spoke about the new initiative recently launched between CRC Mining and CSIRO - Mining3.

They began the presentation by speaking about Australia's innovation performance, coming in at a disappointing 72nd in innovation efficiency. Collaboration was then described as the most critical driver of innovation and this was explained as underpinnings of Mining3, to be a global leader in mining research and technology through partnering. Some of the breakthrough technologies previously founded by CRC Mining were then displayed, followed by a look into Mining3's research strategy and rolling 8 year roadmap and the methods that will be used to achieve this.
