The Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) is a formula that measures the number of injuries that result in time away from work following a workplace incident, per 1 million hours worked. thyssenkrupp’s frequency rate of zero is well below the industry standard of 4.3.

Lee Corbett, Head of Services at thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (Australia): “thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions strive to be an industry leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). This includes Service Australia’s goal of ‘best in class’ service provider. The recent achievement of ‘1000 days LTI free’ is a milestone the team is very proud of and a testament to the quality of work and the culture we strive for as a company. This is just the beginning as we set more ambitious goals for the development of our safety culture and the development of the quality services we offer our customers.”

This remarkable achievement has been accomplished through the continued efforts of the entire services team and demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to safety, the care and responsibility they show to each other and their desire to create and maintain a safe working environment.

Ian Austin, Manager Services Centre - overseeing operations for Henderson Workshop, North West Services and the Field Services teams: “This is evidence that achieving and maintaining a strong safety culture is achievable. Our people and the contractors under our supervision are exposed to many hazards during repair and revamp work on mining equipment throughout Australia and as such, special recognition must be made to the outstanding safety commitment of our managers, supervisors and workforce who conduct their work on site, in the workshop and warehouse - where the majority of our risks are. While we acknowledge that there are still areas of the business that we need to focus on in order to continually improve, this is a significant milestone for us and one that we are extremely proud of.”

For thyssenkrupp, this is where the challenge starts. Achieving a Lost Time Incident Frequency Rate (LTIFR) of ZERO is just the beginning, maintaining it is our true goal.
