FB Rice Roundtable: Overseas Finding Applications for Research & Development
Are you undertaking research and development activities overseas? Deadine 30 June 2019.
Join Kate Mahady, Director, R&D Tax Consulting for a lunchtime roundtable to discuss the requirements and discover tips for completing an Overseas Finding Application in advance of the 30 June deadline.
The R&D Tax Incentive program recognises that research is increasingly global and your overseas activities may qualify for the refundable R&D tax offset together with your Australian based R&D at the same rate.
Companies must apply for an Overseas Finding for their overseas activities prior to the end of the financial year in which the activities occur ie 30 June 2019.
Overseas R&D activities need to meet additional criteria to be eligible including:
- meeting the definition of R&D core or supporting activities;
- significant scientific link to the Australian based R&D activities;
- the overseas activities are unable to be undertaken in Australia due to access to population, facilities, experts or in some cases, timeliness; and
- more R&D expenditure in Australia over the life of the R&D activities.
All Overseas Finding Applications are audited by AusIndustry prior to certification. Describing how your activities meet these requirements and having the right supporting documentation is essential. Click here for more information about Overseas Findings.
