Optika Solutions’ “Akumen” Named as iAwards National Finalist for Most Innovative Collaborative Technology

[25 June 2016] – West Perth-based Optika Solutions were selected as a National Finalist for the iAwards competition, announced on Friday night at the 2016 WAITTA INCITE Awards.  They received recognition in the category of Most Innovative Collaborative Technology for their world-leading decision support platform, Akumen.

The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) facilitates iAwards participation in all Australian states and territories, including in Western Australia via the WAITTA INCITE Awards.

The national  iAwards program honours companies at the cutting edge of technology innovation and recognises the achievements of home-grown Australian innovators.

The key goal of the iAwards is to discover, recognise and reward the ICT innovations that have the potential to, or are already having a positive impact on the community – at home, in the office and on a global scale.

Optika Solutions is proud to have been recognised and given the opportunity to compete on a national stage.  Managing Director, Matthew Schneider said, “I am very proud that Optika’s efforts with the development of Akumen have been recognised by WAITTA and that we now move on to the next step in the iAwards pathway.  Akumen is a revolutionary product, full of complexity and opportunity, and we have every confidence that we will do a good job in flying the flag for Western Australia when we compete in Melbourne in August this year.”

Launched in 2014, Akumen is an innovative, cloud-based simulation and modelling tool that operates on a whole of business scale.  For the first time, it brings people and data together in one unique, dynamic and completely collaborative environment to give true insight into business operations and opportunities.  Akumen’s collaboration capacity truly unites and integrates businesses.

Akumen’s unique advantage is its capacity to process vast quantities of data, be it data at rest (what has happened in the past), data in action (what is happening now) and data with potential (insight into the future landscape) which offers clients a superior tool to manage, model and represent data relevant to their business at any point in time.

Optika Solutions CEO, Prof Steve Hannah said:  “In the current market, insight and reliable data analysis and scenario modeling is even more crucial for Executives and Boards to make decisions. In a changing global market, having reliable, accountable and actionable insight into business performance is crucial.  Bringing together disparate data sets and uniting teams within a business, be it down the corridor to the next cubicle, or from Head Office to a remote location, or multiple office locations around the world, Akumen’s unique collaboration environment offers huge and immediately tangible benefits. We couldn’t be more proud to have been selected as a National Finalist in the iAwards and the opportunity to showcase Akumen to a national audience – the world is changing rapidly, and we are proud to be driving growth and innovation from Western Australia“.

The iAwards will be hosted in Melbourne from 30 August – 1 September 2016.
